- Provide opportunities for scientific study and creativity within a global context which will stimulate and challenge students
- Provide a body of knowledge, methods and techniques which characterize science and technology
- Develop an ability to analyse, evaluate and synthesize scientific information
- Develop experimental and investigative scientific skills
- Encourage an understanding of the relationships between scientific disciplines and the overarching nature of the scientific method.
Objectives
- Demonstrate the personal skills of cooperation, perseverance and responsibility appropriate for effective scientific investigation and problem solving.
- Demonstrate the manipulative skills necessary to carry out scientific investigations with precision and safety.
The department of Physics at GSSSIETW came into existence in the year 2003. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty dedicated to teach Engineering Physics. Physics lab is equipped with sophisticated instruments. The department has been consistently achieving 90% and above results in Physics theory and lab. The faculty encourages students to update their scientific knowledge on the latest inventions in frontier areas of Physics.
LAB DETAILS
We have major equipments in the department like Spectrometer, Diffraction grating, Travelling microscope, Ultrasonic interferometer experimental set up, transistor characteristics experimental set up, charging & discharging of a capacitor set up, Function generator, Power supply, Fermi energy experimental set up.
ACTIVITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT
The physics department recently organized a special lecture dated 21-09-13 to enrich the knowledge of the teaching faculty and student community on ‘Women in Science & Engineering Education’ delivered by Prof. B A Patil, Founder President, Think and ink science foundation, Bangalore.
